Hello! I'm Maxime Downe (aka maxitect on github), a London-based architect and software engineer who swapped designing buildings for building software. After spearheading rapid-engineering BIM pipelines and crafting bespoke 3D modelling tools, I've pivoted to building web and AI-powered applications that solve real-world problems.
Currently on the Founders programme at Founders & Coders and co-founder of Tandem Creative Dev, I'm fascinated by the intersection of computational design and modern web development. Whether I'm debugging collapsed neural networks, experimenting with AI-assisted coding workflows, or building RAG chatbots, there's always something interesting to unpack.
On this blog, you'll find my thoughts on everything from the lean coding style of data scientists to practical frameworks for working with AI. I write about the projects that challenge me, the bugs that I grapple with, and the occasional breakthrough that makes it worthwhile.
Drop me a line if something resonates — I'm always up for a chat about code, architecture, or how to make machines do clever things.
Following our successful [HULA framework workshops](/posts/ai-in-the-loop-reflections-on-delivering-the-hula-workshops-at-founders-coders), we evolved the concept at [Founders &…
This week, I attended a fascinating workshop at [Founders & Coders](https://www.foundersandcoders.com/) led by a RAG and AI agent expert from Neo4j. I decided to attend because at…
Claude Code has been touted as a powerful AI-assisted development tool, and according to Anthropic, the key to unlocking its full potential lies in a well-structured `CLAUDE.md` file. I've spent this…
A month ago, I had the chance to facilitate a workshop series at [Founders & Coders](https://www.foundersandcoders.com/) with Jack Casstles-Jones, my co-facilitator, introducing developers to a new…
Following last week's thoughts on the lean coding style of data scientists, my second week at the Machine Learning Institute has been about debugging neural networks. Much like in E.M. Forster's _The…
Having recently embarked on a machine learning bootcamp at the Machine Learning Institute (MLX), I've been struck by a fascinating contrast in coding styles. Having formally trained in software…
